D. Smith first appears as a commentator in the special Out in Hip Hop, which aired as part of the gay storyline involving cast members Milan Christopher and Miles Brock during season two of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.
D joins the supporting cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in season five, where she clashes with Tammy over Waka Flocka Flame's comments about transgender people and later ignites feuds with Deb, Bambi and Scrappy.
D quit the show shortly before the reunion taping, unhappy with her portrayal on the show.
